SmartListing

Monsoon has a great listing management feature for Fixed Price Listings on eBay called SmartListing. SmartListing maximizes your visibility to eBay shoppers for "Best Match" and "Time: Ending Soonest" search results. This makes sure you get maximum value for your listing fee.

Monsoon figures out the best listing plan for you.

Effectively managing listing expiration times for thousands of parts is a tall order. How do you know if you're listing an item correctly? When should you start a listing? How many times should you re-list an item? How many listings will be too many for a category? All of these difficult questions are settled by Monsoon automatically. It's as easy as 1,2,3!

  1. Set a listing budget for a category
  2. Set rules to define your listing strategy
  3. Let Monsoon figure out the rest:
    • Determine how many listings are needed to effectively “slot” a category for maximum visibility without over doing it
    • Pick the best time slots to maximize view
    • Rotate titles for repeat to improve Best Match visibility

How it works:

Once you have set a budget and your listing strategy, Monsoon takes over your fixed price listing activity.

Step 1. Monsoon looks at each category you sell in, and for each coming listing day it determines two curves for each category — the listing curve and the success curve. Monsoon looks at the actual competitive listings scheduled on the day your new listings will expire.

Step 2. Monsoon looks for time zones during the day when listings (competition) are relatively low and sales (conversion rates) are relatively high. These time zones are known as “Green Zones”, and will be targeted with the majority of listings.

Step 3. The remaining time of the day is divided into “Yellow Zones” and “Red Zones”. These time zones get comparatively fewer listings because sales activity is low and competition is high. Once the time zones have been defined, Monsoon’s SmartListing feature then allocates the number of listings to each time zone based on your marketing budget. If you have a limited marketing budget then the listings will be focused in the Green Zones.

Step 4. Once a listing is assigned to a time zone, then the SmartListing feature checks all competitive listings for the time zone and finds the optimal times to list each item. Items are placed to maximize their visibility in “Time: Ending Soonest” searches.

Step 5. If enough listing slots are available and the budget allows it, the SmartListing feature will create new, alternative listings with alternate titles. New titles are based on rules you set and help your visibility to Best Match searches. If you have too many listings in a category (you are over-paying listing fees) the SmartListing feature will sense the saturation and reduce listings.
